American snacks at wholesale: Takis and Stranger Things as stock for the EU market

Web shops and kiosks can buy American snacks from MDH Distribution, but as a small, selected range: three Takis flavours and four Stranger Things licensed items. The goods are intended for the EU market and come with an invoice; we do not carry a broad US assortment.

What is really “American” at MDH?

Exactly seven items, and the word describes what customers know them from, not where a shipment comes from. Takis is a brand of Barcel, part of Mexico's Grupo Bimbo. It became a trend in the United States: according to Barcel USA (statement of 11 July 2014), Takis Fuego debuted there in 2006.

Stranger Things is a US series on Netflix. Our licensed items pick up the American style, the Toaster Tarts in particular. We deliberately name no country of manufacture; the details on each pack are what counts.

Which items do we stock?

Takis: rolled tortilla chips in Fuego, Blue Heat and Queso Volcano, 100 g each, 18 bags per carton. All three are among our most requested items. Full details are on our Takis wholesale page.

Stranger Things Toaster Tarts: Cherry and Cookie, 8 tarts of 35 g per box, 9 boxes per carton.

Stranger Things cookies: Choco Strawberry in 135 g, 14 packs per carton, and Cookie Cream in 300 g, 12 packs per carton. More on our Stranger Things wholesale page.

Why EU stock instead of grey imports?

Anyone sourcing US snacks soon comes across goods made for the American shelf. Those packs are genuine, but they were never meant for EU law. That can hit the trade: in October 2024, according to the NRW state office LANUV, the sale of a batch of Takis from Mexico containing the colour E 110 was prohibited after it was found in a warehouse in Monheim (t-online Köln, 15 October 2024).

Our guide on recognising EU-compliant Takis shows what to look for, and labelling imported snacks explains the rules for every brand.

Here is where we stand: we work directly with manufacturers, for Takis with Barcel. Our goods are intended for the EU market, and every order gets an invoice, showing VAT for orders in Germany. Still check the labelling requirements where you sell; if you have questions about a country or item, we help with documents.

What fits alongside them on the shelf?

Seven items will not fill a shelf, and they do not need to. A customer hunting for Takis after a video often picks up other trending snacks too. From Korea, Samyang Buldak in four varieties, with halal certificates available, and LOTTE Milkis in 250 ml cans fit well. Neither is a US product, but in our experience they appeal to a similar crowd.

What we suit and what we do not

We suit you if you want to test a small US corner or add well-known trend items to your shop. With no minimum order value, one carton of each is enough, and you reorder what sells.

We do not suit you if you are building a pure American candy shop. We have no US soft drinks, chocolate bars, breakfast cereals or peanut butter products, and no full grocery range either. For many US brands a specialist importer is the better type of supplier; ask them about EU labels and the responsible business in the EU.

How do web shops and kiosks get started?

One possible start: a carton each of Takis Blue Heat and Queso Volcano plus one of Toaster Tarts. In a web shop, most mandatory food information must be visible before purchase. Our guide on starting a food web shop covers the basics; it does not replace legal advice.

All you need is registration with proof of business, and prices usually appear after 1–2 working days. Shipping within Germany normally takes 24–48 hours, and collection in Mettmann is free. We deliver to all EU countries, with costs shown at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Where do web shops buy American snacks wholesale in Germany?

MDH Distribution, a B2B wholesaler with its warehouse in Mettmann, sells Takis and Stranger Things licensed items by the carton with no minimum order value. The range is small, but the goods are intended for the EU market and come with an invoice. We do not carry a broad US assortment.

Does MDH carry a wide range of American sweets?

No. The range covers three Takis flavours and four Stranger Things items. The shop shows what is currently available.

Are these items imported directly from the US?

We do not claim that. Our goods are intended for the EU market, and details of the manufacturer and origin are on the pack.

Is Takis an American brand?

No. Takis belongs to Barcel, a company of Mexico's Grupo Bimbo. The chips also became well known in the US, which is why many customers look for them as a US snack.

What is the risk with grey imports of American snacks?

Packs made for the US market can miss EU rules on labels or additives, and any inspection can then land on the business selling them. Ask your supplier which market the goods were made for.

May I sell these items on Amazon or eBay?

You receive goods with an invoice. Whether a marketplace approves food or licensed products is up to the marketplace, and we cannot guarantee it.

Do you deliver American snacks to other EU countries?

Yes, to all EU countries. With a valid EU VAT ID you buy without German VAT; without a valid number, 19 % applies. Ask your tax adviser about the details.
