Which shops in Portugal is our range for?

Everyday retail in Portugal runs on many small formats. The mercearia and minimercado serve the neighbourhood, the quiosque sells to passing trade in a tight space, and the tabacaria or papelaria depends on small items at the till. Fuel station shops, toy shops, gift shops in tourist towns and online sellers fit as well.

We supply businesses only. We do not sell to private buyers, even for larger quantities.

Which products fit, and where do they come from?

Dry goods keep you clear of deposit questions: Takis in Blue Heat, Fuego and Queso Volcano, Samyang Buldak, and squishies from the Butter Squishy to the Spinner Ball. Wunder toothpicks sit in a display next to the till and take up very little shelf space. Our squishy wholesale page shows the choice of squishies.

We work with the manufacturers directly, Barcel in the case of Takis. Some of the squishies come from production runs we commission ourselves. All goods are intended for the EU market.

One date for the calendar: on 1 June Portugal marks Dia da Criança, when children like to receive small gifts. Restock squishies in good time for it.

Signing up with certidão permanente, invoicing with NIF

The form at create a dealer account is the same for every EU country. Enter your VAT number as PT plus 9 digits: the NIPC for companies, the NIF for sole traders. Look it up in the VIES portal first to confirm it shows as valid.

Proof of business is the certidão permanente from the Registo Comercial, which can be viewed online with an access code. Save it as a PDF and upload the file. Sole traders without this extract submit their declaração de início de atividade. Our review usually takes 1–2 working days, after which you see all prices.

With a valid number we invoice without German VAT, and your business declares the acquisition in Portugal itself (reverse charge). Without one you can still register, but 19% German VAT applies. Our guide to buying with a VAT ID covers the basics; your contabilista handles the bookkeeping.

What applies to labels and deposits in Portugal?

Decree-Law 238/86 requires information on goods offered on the Portuguese market to be available in Portuguese, and foreign-language text must be translated in full. The duty expressly covers wholesalers and retailers too. The food inspectorate ASAE named missing Portuguese information as one of the main offences in an inspection of international foods. So check every label before you sell; whoever applies translation stickers answers for what they say.

Since 10 April 2026 the SDR deposit system has run under the volta brand: 10 cents per single-use plastic or metal container up to 3 litres, operated by SDR Portugal. According to the law firm Cuatrecasas (May 2026), only packaging integrated into the system may be marketed since 9 August 2026. Delivery to Portugal and collection in Mettmann

We deliver to Portugal by parcel or, for larger quantities, on a pallet by freight. There is no minimum order value, and you order in full cartons. Happy to discuss special quantities or documents by email or WhatsApp.

If you use your own carrier, you can have goods picked up at our Mettmann warehouse. We then need a signed confirmation of arrival, otherwise German VAT may be due. CE declarations of conformity and test reports for squishies, and halal certificates for Samyang Buldak, are available on request.

Com um número de IVA válido, que verificamos através do sistema VIES, faturamos sem IVA alemão; sem número válido, faturamos com 19 % de IVA alemão.
