Spanish shop formats that suit our range

Spain has a strong small-shop culture. Our range fits the tienda de chuches especially well: the sweet shop where kids and teens stop on the way home from school. The street kiosco, the tienda 24 horas or convenience store in residential areas and stations, nut and snack shops (frutos secos) and toy shops are good matches too.

An estanco mainly sells tobacco and may only carry a limited range of other goods. Please check yourself which items your estanco is allowed to stock before you order.

Online sellers and vending machine operators in Spain can open a trade account as well. In every case, you need a registered business.

What sells in a chuches shop

Sweet shops sell a lot of loose sweets and small take-away treats. Packaged trend items round that off nicely: Takis in three flavours, Toppie fruit gummies in 80 g bags and as 40 g Jelly Fruits, and squishies as a small gift. Our squishy wholesale page shows how to present them in store.

For the fridge in a 24-hour shop, consider Red Bull special editions such as Glacier Ice Raspberry and the Korean milk soda LOTTE Milkis in several flavours. Drinks like these get noticed because they are rarely found on ordinary supermarket shelves.

Planning tip: in Spain, Three Kings' Day on 6 January is a major gift day. If you want to offer squishies and sweets for it, order early, because the route and date for shipping to Spain are set in advance.

Good to know: there is no minimum order value, and the smallest unit is a full case. Takis come in cases of 18 bags, LOTTE Milkis in 30 cans and most squishies in 12 pieces. Since each shipment to Spain is costed separately, it still makes sense to combine several cases into one shipment.

NIF-IVA and Registro Mercantil: how to register

The registration form is the same for every country. Choose Spain and enter your Spanish VAT ID, the NIF-IVA: your NIF with the ES prefix, so ES plus 9 characters.

Companies can upload an extract from the Registro Mercantil (nota simple). Self-employed traders (autónomos) upload comparable proof of their activity, such as the certificado de situación censal from the Agencia Tributaria.

Your NIF-IVA is checked against VIES as you fill in the form. In Spain, a number only shows as valid there if the business is listed in the Registro de Operadores Intracomunitarios (ROI) for intra-EU trade. It is worth confirming this with your gestoría before you sign up. Expect approval within 1–2 working days in most cases.

VAT rules for Spanish retailers

With a valid NIF-IVA, we do not charge German VAT. It is an intra-community supply, and you declare the VAT in Spain yourself (inversión del sujeto pasivo, i.e. reverse charge). Without a valid number, our invoice includes 19% German VAT.

From trade account to delivery in Spain

There are four steps. One: register. Two: wait for approval, after which you see prices and case sizes. Three: send a delivery request by WhatsApp or email listing items, quantities and the delivery address. We suggest parcel or freight and give you cost and transit time. Four: place your order.

You can also collect from our Mettmann warehouse yourself or through your own carrier. We do not promise fixed delivery times to Spain, since they depend on quantity and route.

Please note: our products are intended for the EU market and come from official distribution channels. We send documents such as CE declarations for squishies or halal certificates for Buldak on request, and special wishes on quantities or paperwork are welcome.
