Why Switzerland is a special case

For retailers in EU countries, our shop checks the VAT number automatically via VIES and the sale is treated as an intra-community supply. That procedure does not apply to Switzerland. Swiss companies have no EU VAT number but their own business identification number (UID) in the format CHE-123.456.789.

A delivery to Switzerland is an export from the EU and involves customs formalities. So the rule is: Swiss retailers contact us by email or WhatsApp before registering, and we clarify delivery and export case by case.

We do not give information on customs duties, import charges or Swiss VAT. Your freight forwarder or accountant is the right contact for these questions.

How the enquiry works

Write to info@mdh-distribution.com or message us on WhatsApp at +49 1556 3188241. Tell us your company name, town, UID or commercial register entry and the products you are interested in, ideally with rough quantities.

We then check whether and how a delivery can work and come back to you with the next steps, including registration in the shop. Cost, shipping method and timing are set individually for each shipment.

Collection is another option: with your own haulier or vehicle, you can pick up the goods free of charge at our warehouse in Mettmann, Germany. Export formalities still need to be sorted out, so please talk to us first.

Products for Swiss kiosks and petrol station shops

Kiosks and station shops: Takis Blue Heat, Fuego and Queso Volcano are striking impulse buys for the snack shelf. Flavours and case sizes are listed on our Takis wholesale page.

Petrol station shops: Samyang Buldak and LOTTE Milkis appeal to younger customers who follow Korean food trends online. Red Bull Glacier Ice Raspberry adds something new to the drinks fridge.

Toys and gifts: the Spinner Ball, butter squishies and dumpling squishies work well as small add-on purchases at the till.

A tip for your first enquiry: put together a mixed list covering several areas, such as snacks, drinks and till items. One shipment like that is more worthwhile than asking about single cases one after another.

Commercial register and labelling

Before working together we need proof that you trade as a business. In Switzerland this is usually an extract from the commercial register; registered companies can find their entry in the central business name index Zefix. If another document is more suitable in your case, we will discuss it when you contact us.

Our goods are intended for the EU market and sourced through official channels; documents such as CE declarations for toys or halal certificates for Buldak can be sent on request, and we are open to special wishes on quantities or paperwork. Before selling, please check which labelling rules apply in Switzerland, for example regarding language and mandatory information on the label.
