Products that suit Austrian shops

In a Trafik (the Austrian tobacconist and newsagent), counter space is tight. Small, eye-catching items such as the Spinner Ball, the Butter Squishy 113 g or a 100 g bag of Takis fit next to magazines and lottery tickets without taking up much room.

Petrol station shops on through roads sell a lot to people on the move. Red Bull special editions such as Glacier Ice Raspberry or Iced Vanilla Berry stand out in the fridge, while Takis Fuego and Blue Heat round off the snack shelf.

Documents from Austria: Firmenbuch, trade licence, UID

To approve your account we need proof of your business. Companies listed in the Austrian commercial register upload a current Firmenbuch extract. Sole traders without a Firmenbuch entry use their Gewerbeschein (trade licence) or an extract from the GISA trade register.

You also enter your UID number, Austria's VAT ID. It starts with ATU followed by eight digits and is checked automatically via VIES when you register. The UID is issued by the tax office; if no valid UID is available, German VAT of 19% goes on the invoice.

From account to delivery in Austria

The registration form takes about three minutes to complete. Once your UID is confirmed and we have seen your document, we approve the account, usually within 1–2 working days. From then on prices and volume tiers are visible.

If you enter an Austrian delivery address at checkout, you will see the note “shipping on request”, because the shipping details for Austria are settled together with you. Send us your planned order by WhatsApp or email. Together we decide whether a parcel will do or a pallet by freight makes more sense, and agree on cost and timing.

If you travel to Germany regularly anyway, you can collect the goods free of charge at our Mettmann warehouse or have a haulier of your choice pick them up.

Invoices without German VAT

With a valid UID we issue the invoice without German VAT, because the sale is an intra-community supply. You then declare the purchase under Austrian rules; your tax adviser will know how this works in your case.

Same language, different rules

The shop, invoices and our team all work in German, which keeps things simple. The goods are meant for the EU market and reach us through official distribution channels. Please still check before selling whether labelling meets Austrian requirements, especially for food and toys. If you need paperwork for that, such as CE declarations for squishies or halal certificates for Buldak, we send it on request, and we are glad to discuss special quantity requests too.

Austria also runs its own deposit system for drinks, and German deposit marks are not automatically valid there. Before buying cans, clarify how you will handle this. Whether German deposit is charged or taken off for a delivery to Austria depends on the product, and we settle it with you for each order.

A mixed first order works well: some Takis, one Red Bull edition and a few cases of squishies. You quickly learn what your customers like while keeping everything in a single shipment.
