Away from the big chains, the magazin alimentar and the mini-market shape the neighbourhood. In towns, chioșcuri sell at stops and outside schools, joined by non-stop shops, the benzinărie and the magazin de jucării. Online sellers on marketplaces are among our target groups as well.

In every case you need a registered company or a registered trade such as a PFA, because we do not serve end consumers.

What suits Romanian shelves

Many trends reach the country directly through TikTok. So customers often already know Takis, Samyang Buldak and squishies from videos. We work directly with the manufacturers, with Barcel for Takis, and producers make part of our squishy range for us. The items are meant for the EU market.

Calendar tips: for Moș Nicolae on 6 December small gifts go into children's boots, and 1 June, Ziua Copilului, is a public holiday. Both dates suit squishies well.

Registering with certificat constatator, invoicing with cod de TVA

At create a dealer account, enter your number as RO plus 2 to 10 digits; the digits match your CUI. VIES only shows VAT-registered companies as valid. For an invoice without German VAT, a CUI alone is therefore not enough, and firms without normal TVA registration should ask their contabil how to handle EU purchases.

Proof of business comes from the certificat constatator of the ONRC trade register, available online through the InfoCert service. Unlike the certificat de înregistrare, which is issued once, it shows the company's current status. After 1–2 working days in most cases, prices become visible to you.

Invoices to valid RO numbers carry no German VAT, and you report TVA on the acquisition in Romania. Without a valid number we charge 19% German VAT, though an account is still possible. See buying with a VAT ID.

What to clear up before selling in Romania

Labels: Mandatory food information must be in Romanian. According to the trade body Federvini, the consumer authority ANPC also required Romanian information on the front of pack in 2019. Our guide to imported snacks in the EU explains the basics.

Deposit: Since 30 November 2023 the SGR system, run by RetuRO, has applied 0.50 lei per plastic, metal or glass drinks container. RetuRO says registration is mandatory, and the system names manufacturers, importers and retailers. If you are the first to bring cans into Romania, this may apply to you.

RO e-Transport: Goods with high fiscal risk, including certain foods, need a code (UIT) before transport when acquired from the EU. Ask your contabil whether your product group and quantity are affected.

Energy drinks: In 2024 Romania banned sales to minors, including through vending machines. All details as of November 2026, without legal advice.

How the goods reach Romania

Our delivery area covers Romania like all EU countries. Depending on order size, goods travel by parcel or on a pallet. You can order with no minimum order value, in full cartons.

If your own van is heading to Germany, you can load in Mettmann; we then rely on the signed confirmation of arrival. Documents such as CE declarations of conformity, test reports or the Buldak halal certificates are sent to you on request.
