Which Italian shops we supply

Italian retail relies heavily on small specialist shops with long opening hours. A tabaccheria often sells sweets, drinks and small extras at the till alongside its core business. An edicola (newsstand) has very little space and needs products that stand out on a small shelf. Bars with a sales counter, neighbourhood minimarkets, toy and gift shops and online sellers are also a good fit.

The rule is the same for everyone: we sell to businesses only, never to private consumers. Sole trader or company makes no difference, as long as you hold a valid Partita IVA and can show proof of your business.

Products that work in Italy

Retailers selling trend items in Italy rarely compete on price; they compete on availability. Many products that go viral are hard to source from local wholesalers. Small impulse items suit the counter of a tabaccheria. The flavoured Wunder toothpicks come in a display and take up very little room next to the register. In an edicola, squishies are best placed in the window, where children and teenagers notice them as they walk past.

A seasonal note: in Italy the Befana fills children's stockings on 6 January. Small squishies and sweets fit that season well. Signing up with Partita IVA and visura camerale

You use the same form as German retailers: apply for a trade account. Select Italy as your country and enter your VAT number. For Italy this is your Partita IVA with the country prefix, so IT followed by 11 digits.

As proof of business, upload a recent extract from the Chamber of Commerce business register, the visura camerale (PDF, JPG or PNG). The form checks your number automatically against VIES, the EU's VAT validation system. One practical tip: not every Italian VAT number is enabled for cross-border trade by default. Check in the VIES portal beforehand that yours shows as valid.

Once you submit, we review your documents, normally within 1–2 working days. After that you can see prices, volume tiers and case sizes.

Invoices without German VAT

If your Partita IVA is valid in VIES, we invoice without German VAT. The sale is an intra-community supply, and you account for the tax in Italy as the recipient (reverse charge). Without a valid number, 19% German VAT applies.

Delivery to Italy and collection in Mettmann

There is no fixed shipping rate for Italy. Once approved, send us a WhatsApp message or an email with what you need and where it should go. We work out whether a parcel or a pallet by freight makes more sense and give you the cost and transit time. You order only once you are happy with that. The checkout shows the same notice for delivery addresses outside Germany.

If you already collect goods in Germany or work with your own carrier, you can have the order picked up at our Mettmann warehouse. Collection is open to foreign retailers just as it is to German ones.

Before you sell: our goods are meant for the EU market and come from official distribution channels. Please still check which labelling rules apply in Italy, for example whether Italian-language information is required on the label. For your records we send CE declarations of conformity for toys or halal certificates for Samyang Buldak on request, and we are glad to discuss special quantities.
