Which shops in Bulgaria does our range suit?

Bulgarian residential areas are known for the denonoshten magazin (денонощен магазин), a shop that stays open around the clock. Add the kvartalen magazin, the neighbourhood grocer, the small sales pavilion or budka near bus stops and schools, and petrol station shops. Customers in all of these buy on impulse, so a striking pack matters more than metres of shelf.

Toy shops, gift shops, vending operators and online sellers can open an account too. Two dates are worth planning around: the summer season on the Black Sea coast near Varna and Burgas, and the start of school on 15 September, when children and teenagers pass the same shops every day again.

What do we stock, and where does it come from?

For the till of a 24-hour shop, Takis in Fuego, Blue Heat and Queso Volcano work well alongside Samyang Buldak. Halal certificates are available for all four Buldak items we stock. We work directly with manufacturers, for Takis with Barcel, and we have part of our squishy range produced ourselves. Our goods are meant for the EU market. For toys, CE declarations of conformity and test reports are available on request.

Which proof do Bulgarian companies need, and which number counts?

In the registration form, enter your VAT number, the ДДС номер: BG followed by 9 or 10 digits. Do not confuse it with the ЕИК (EIK), the company identifier from the register. An EIK alone does not show that a business is registered for VAT.

A recent udostoverenie za aktualno sastoyanie (удостоверение за актуално състояние) from the Търговски регистър, the commercial register run by the Registry Agency, works as proof of business. Upload it as a PDF, JPG or PNG. Our review normally takes 1–2 working days, after which you can see prices and case sizes.

How do invoicing and delivery to Bulgaria work?

If your number is valid in VIES, we invoice without German VAT, and you declare the intra-EU acquisition in Bulgaria. You can still register without a valid number, but 19% German VAT is then added. Since 1 January 2026 Bulgaria has used the euro, so exchange rates no longer play a part when buying from Germany.

Orders are placed in full cartons, with no minimum order value. We ship by parcel or, for larger quantities, by pallet. If you use your own carrier, the goods can also be collected from our Mettmann warehouse.

What applies to labels and deposits in Bulgaria?

Under the EU food information regulation, mandatory details must appear in a language consumers easily understand, which in Bulgaria means Bulgarian. A 2019 USDA country report said Bulgarian stickers on the original label of imported goods were accepted. Confirm today's practice before selling; whoever relabels a product is responsible for the sticker. Our article on labels on imported snacks may help.

Our research in November 2026 found no deposit scheme yet for single-use drinks packaging in Bulgaria: the environment ministry published a draft law on 30 April 2026 and gave no start date there. Cans with the German DPG logo can only be returned for a deposit in Germany. Depending on the product, we include the German deposit or take it out, and we sort that out with each order. Whether an age limit for energy drinks applies in Bulgaria is not clear to us, so please check the current position before selling Red Bull.
